Pranav Kay, and why Clean Design Co became a pitch-deck studio.

A short, honest version of how we got here and what we are actually set up to do now.

The short version

Clean Design Co started in 2021 as a generalist design studio. Websites, brand systems, product UI, the occasional deck. Over five years the client mix narrowed on its own — founders kept coming back for pitch decks and narrative work, and the other categories quietly faded.

By the middle of 2025, every good month was a pitch-deck month. Every slow month was the one where I had talked myself into taking a brand identity job I did not really want.

So in early 2026 the studio repositioned around the work that was already driving the business: pitch decks for fintech and SaaS founders raising seed through Series A, on a flat 21-day timeline, with narrative and coaching included in the scope.

Why pitch decks specifically

I run Google Search Console like most operators check email — daily, reflexively, looking for what the market is actually asking for. Over the past eighteen months the queries driving traffic to the studio site have been dominated by a handful of intent-heavy phrases: pitch deck design, series a pitch deck, investor pitch deck designer, expedited pitch deck.

The demand was already there. The site just was not positioned for it. The old homepage talked about brand systems and product design — founders landed, bounced, and went to find someone who looked like a pitch-deck specialist. A real one, not a generalist with a deck in their portfolio.

The pivot is partly about matching what the market is already asking for. It is also about doing better work. Pitch decks are the category where I have the most precedent, the strongest process, and the clearest opinion about what makes a deliverable good. That combination is rare enough that it is worth specializing around.

What the studio is set up to do

One focused service. A flat 21-day timeline. Three speeds for founders who need to move faster. Narrative, design, and coaching delivered by the same small team on every engagement — no hand-offs, no junior designers, no recycled templates.

The scope is deliberately narrow: fintech and SaaS, seed to Series A, rounds between $1M and $15M. It is where the precedent is strongest and where I can be honest about what works and what does not.

What we are not

Not a generalist agency. Not a template marketplace. Not a fractional-design subscription. Not a retainer shop billing by the hour. The flat timeline and flat fee are the product — the whole engagement is structured around delivering a specific thing on a specific date for a specific price.

That constraint is why the work ships on time. It is also why the fit is not universal — founders who want endless iteration or a design partner for the long haul are better served elsewhere, and I will tell you that on the intro call.
